Introducing the Blackberry Torch, Only Hot On Ebay

Research in Motion debuted the Blackberry Torch in stores about a month ago, but the sudden decrease in no-contract price for Blackberry devices caught the eyes of cell phone auctioneers on eBay. In most retail locations the Torch was selling for about $499.99 and the eBay sellers were selling it for about $525 to $575 depending on the auction and the location. Rinse and repeat, they were profiting close to 50 bucks a transaction, easy huh? It was very interesting because retail locations like Best Buy caught wind of this when all of the shipments of torches were being bought for the outright price instead of the upgrade or new activation price of around $199.99. Best Buy made the price to $549.99 to remove eBay from the picture.

Honestly, I am not impressed with the Torch. It seems clunky and the whole idea of a Blackberry is to have a candy bar form factor, no moving parts. When RIM came out with the Torch they wanted to debut their new OS6 with a new device, but in my opinion it should have been a new and improved Storm (without the click-button-touch-screen-or-whatever) or an awesome redo of the World Edition (my all time fav) with a 1 ghz processor.
